Aureo Pagos guide: send pesos with Bitcoin to any bank
Step-by-step guide to Aureo Pagos: pay with Bitcoin and send pesos by SPEI to any Mexican bank account from Mexico or abroad.
Aureo Pagos lets you use Bitcoin to send pesos to any Mexican bank account. You pay in Bitcoin and the recipient receives a SPEI bank transfer.
You can use it from Mexico or abroad to pay rent, purchases and services, send money to family or friends, or pay suppliers, freelancers and collaborators.
Businesses can also use Aureo Pagos to cover operating expenses in Mexico with Bitcoin funds. For example, a company can settle supplier invoices, pay freelancers or agencies, send payments to collaborators, cover office rent or pay for professional services. The supplier or collaborator receives pesos in their bank account and can continue operating as usual.
The recipient does not need Bitcoin, a wallet or an Aureo account. You only need their full name and CLABE.
Ready to start paying with Bitcoin?
Before you begin
Have the following ready:
- Your Aureo account.
- A Lightning-compatible wallet with enough Bitcoin for the payment.
- The recipient’s CLABE and full account-holder name.
- The exact amount you want the recipient to receive in pesos.
If you do not have an account yet, you can create a free Aureo account in 5 minutes.
Step 1: choose who will receive the pesos
Sign in to Aureo and select Sell.
On the Destination screen, choose one of your frequent contacts. If this is the first time you are paying that person or company, select New contact.
Step 2: add the recipient’s bank account
Enter the 18-digit CLABE.
Select Someone else and enter the account holder’s full name exactly as it appears on their bank account. Then select Add contact and follow the verification instructions.
Verification takes place when you add a new recipient. Once a contact has been saved and enabled, you can select them directly for future payments.
Step 3: enter the amount in pesos
Enter the amount you want the recipient to receive in pesos.
Aureo displays your account limits, available amount and an estimate of the Bitcoin required. When you are ready, select Continue.
Step 4: review the payment details
On Review your sale, confirm:
- The destination bank account.
- The recipient’s name.
- The amount they will receive in pesos.
- The approximate amount in Bitcoin.
- The payment reference, if you want to add one, such as an invoice number.
The final exchange rate is set when you select Continue to payment. You then have 5 minutes to complete the payment.
Step 5: pay the Bitcoin request
Aureo generates a Lightning invoice. You can:
- Scan the QR code with your wallet.
- Copy the Lightning invoice.
- Select Open in wallet on your phone.
Review the amount in your wallet and confirm the payment.
If you select Open in wallet, choose the Lightning wallet you want to use and approve the payment there.

What happens next?
Once Aureo receives your Bitcoin payment, it processes the peso transfer by SPEI to the selected account.
After the recipient has been added and the Bitcoin payment request has been paid, the pesos normally arrive within 10 to 60 seconds. You can follow the payment status in your Aureo history.
What does the recipient need?
They only need to share:
- Their full name.
- Their 18-digit CLABE.
They do not need to buy Bitcoin, download a wallet or open an Aureo account.
