Buy Bitcoin in Mexico with SPEI: 14 Platforms (2026)

Compare 14 platforms to buy bitcoin in Mexico with SPEI, plus P2P alternatives. Review fees, funding limits, withdrawal costs and delivery to your own wallet.

Mexico · By Tristan Borges Solari · Published · Updated · 23 min read

To buy Bitcoin in Mexico with SPEI, you send pesos from any Mexican bank account to the platform of your choice. That choice determines the purchase steps, the total cost, and who holds the Bitcoin afterward. This guide compares 14 platforms on those product differences first, with P2P and vouchers covered separately, then follows each platform's fees from SPEI funding through delivery to your wallet.

Bitcoin brokers convert pesos into Bitcoin at a quoted rate or markup. Depending on the service, the purchase goes directly to your own wallet or stays in a custodial wallet until you request delivery.

Crypto exchanges let you fund an account and buy through an order book or an instant-buy screen. The Bitcoin stays with the exchange until you withdraw it. Trading-fee tiers depend on volume, and the cost of reaching your own wallet also depends on the spread and any currency-conversion or withdrawal charges. Exchanges emphasize active trading and often support many cryptocurrencies. Long-term buyers can also use them, but should compare the full cost of buying and moving bitcoin into self-custody. If you only want Bitcoin, see why Bitcoin is different from other cryptocurrencies.

P2P marketplaces connect buyers with sellers whose offers set the price and payment method. Escrow coordinates settlement, with available amounts and identity requirements depending on the marketplace and offer.

For long-term Bitcoin saving, follow the purchase through to the wallet you control. Aureo buys Bitcoin when your SPEI arrives and sends it directly to your selected on-chain or Lightning wallet, so there is no separate withdrawal step. Once you have saved that destination, the transfer from your bank starts the process. See how it works on the Buy Bitcoin in Mexico page.

Bybit MXN-balance update: incoming MXN transfers are suspended. The grace period ends on Sep 29, 2026 at 23:59 (UTC−6); remaining MXN balances convert automatically from Sep 30, 2026 at 00:00 (UTC−6), subject to the conversion terms. This closes MXN-balance deposits/withdrawals, One-Click Buy/Sell and Convert. Bybit says non-balance bank-transfer purchases and Bybit Pay are unaffected. The Bybit rows below describe the balance route before closure, not a continuing MXN-balance service.

How much does each platform charge?

The table follows funding, purchase and delivery costs. Spot fees apply only to order-book trades; a SPEI checkout that buys BTC directly uses its own quote and does not necessarily incur a second Spot fee. Schedules A–F detail the trading tiers. Withdrawal figures are historical snapshots. Peso equivalents use an illustrative MX$1.05 million per BTC, not a current market quote. For Aureo's own fees in more detail, see Aureo Bitcoin fees: buying and selling.

Pricing notes

For quote-based purchases, compare the BTC/MXN buy rate with a market reference taken at the same time. The markup is calculated as (buy price ÷ reference price − 1) × 100. A quote that already includes the spread should be counted once when comparing costs.

ArcadiaB advertises 0% commission on recurring purchases. For one-time purchases, it discloses the commission and spread before confirmation. External Bitcoin withdrawals can carry a network fee.

ARQ’s paid-plan pricing: Premium costs 6.99 USDc/month or 69.99 USDc/year; Prestige costs US$199.99/year in Mexico. Include that subscription cost when comparing its lower trading rates. The SPEI funding step converts pesos into digital dollars before the BTC purchase.

Ripio's 0% Bitcoin commission is promotional and applies to its consumer wallet. Its business Ramps API has separate pricing. Paybis waives its service fee on the first purchase; payment processing and Bitcoin network charges can still apply.

Bybit has announced that its MXN balance services end on September 29, 2026. Its rows are kept for comparison until that date; after it, SPEI funding through Bybit is not expected to be available.

Direct-to-wallet vs. custodial

Aureo delivers purchased Bitcoin to your saved wallet. Bull Bitcoin supports direct delivery, with Auto Buy available for automatic purchases after funding. At Paybis checkout, choosing an external wallet sends the purchase there; choosing a Paybis wallet leaves it in custody. Why the distinction matters is covered in Buy Bitcoin direct to your wallet and in our comparison of Bitcoin custody risks.

ArcadiaB credits purchased BTC to its custodial wallet. Bitso, Kraken, Binance, OKX, Bybit, MEXC, TruBit, Ripio and Mercado Pago also hold BTC until the customer requests a withdrawal. ARQ holds purchased BTC too, but does not currently allow external crypto transfers.

Moving bitcoin from an exchange to your own wallet may incur a platform withdrawal fee as well as minimum-amount requirements. These fees can change. At the illustrative rate used here, 0.000001 BTC is MX$1.05 and 0.00001 BTC is MX$10.50, so the Binance and OKX Lightning snapshots are not fractions of a cent. Check the selected network, current fee and minimum before buying.

If you do not have a destination wallet yet, start with how to set up a Bitcoin wallet or, for small and frequent purchases, how to set up a Lightning wallet.

How to read the fee structure

Read each row across funding, purchase pricing and delivery. The detailed schedules below specify tier thresholds and discounts for each trading interface.

A broker's markup is part of the purchase rate. A quoted-price conversion can also contain a spread. Order-book trades carry maker or taker fees, with execution prices determined by available orders.

Kraken converts MXN deposits to USD. The deposit flow shows no itemized SPEI fee, and a MX$150 test deposit on Sep 10, 2026 was credited at the quoted rate with no separate deduction, although Kraken's help centre lists a 0.5% deposit charge. The cost sits in the conversion rate, which was about 1% above the market rate, and the same conversion applies on the way back out. The Instant Buy screen then priced bitcoin about 1.5% above the Pro market price, on top of its 1% fee; a Pro market order paid the 0.80% taker fee with negligible slippage. From pesos to bitcoin in your own wallet over Lightning, the Pro market route cost about 1.9% all in.

TruBit converts pesos to MMXN before the BTC purchase. SPEI funding and the explicit Convert commission are both 0%; the MMXN → BTC quote includes TruBit's margin.

A custodial purchase can also carry a BTC withdrawal charge. The network matters: some platforms charge for on-chain withdrawals while offering Lightning withdrawals at 0.

P2P, cash, and vouchers

For delivery without platform identity verification, RoboSats and Mostro run on Lightning with very low fees. Hodl Hodl uses multisig and charges 0.75% per side. NoOnes and LocalCoinSwap have active Mexican markets with SPEI, transfer, and OXXO. Azteco is the voucher route for small amounts with no account.

Regulatory note

Mexico’s SAT classifies habitual, professional virtual-asset exchange services offered by non-financial entities as a Vulnerable Activity under LFPIORPI, with registration and reporting obligations. This is distinct from authorization as a financial technology institution under the Fintech Law.

That is not an investment endorsement. Under the Fintech Law, virtual assets are not legal tender and are not backed by the federal government or by Banco de México. Selling bitcoin can create tax obligations depending on the transaction and taxpayer; see our guide to crypto taxes in Mexico (2026).

Which model works best for long-term Bitcoin accumulation?

Aureo is built for buying Bitcoin regularly with pesos and keeping it in your own wallet. Once you have selected an on-chain or Lightning destination, each SPEI triggers a purchase with automatic delivery. The transaction-size markup covers delivery, so the purchase completes without a separate withdrawal request. Purchases below MX$200,000 normally process within minutes; from MX$200,000, arrange execution and settlement with the OTC desk. For a recurring plan, see the Bitcoin DCA guide for Mexican investors.

Bull Bitcoin also supports direct delivery and automatic purchases through Auto Buy, with on-chain, Lightning and Liquid settlement. ArcadiaB purchases settle in its custodial wallet; moving them into self-custody requires an on-chain or Lightning withdrawal.

Exchanges such as Bitso and Binance offer order books that can also serve long-term buyers. Higher-volume discounts may be irrelevant to a small recurring purchase, but even entry-tier trading fees can be competitive. Compare the total cost for your amount and withdrawal frequency, including any FX conversion, spread and delivery fee. Direct-to-wallet brokers simplify those steps; they are not automatically cheapest.

Mercado Pago and Bitso offer mobile purchase flows for a small first buy. Customers who later choose self-custody request a separate transfer. ARQ also offers in-app BTC purchases, but currently requires selling to release the value rather than withdrawing BTC.

P2P marketplaces suit buyers who want payment flexibility or options without platform identity verification. Compare the seller's price and available amount, then check the escrow terms for that offer. Azteco vouchers provide an account-free route for small purchases.

Businesses and family offices buying at size can use Aureo for businesses and multi-institution custody for the holding side.

E. OKX Spot: standard pairs

All thresholds are USD. Either assets or 30-day spot volume can qualify an account. Negative maker fees are rebates. The table uses OKX’s global Standard Group schedule; regional entities and special pairs can have different rates.

OKX’s global notice scheduled the VIP7/VIP8 adjustment for Sep 9, 2026, 15:00–17:00 (UTC+8), a window that has now passed. The table below reflects the announced new rates. This notice is also published outside the Australia help site; it does not establish identical fees for every regional entity.

F. Bybit Spot: crypto/crypto

These trading tiers do not establish ongoing availability of MXN-balance funding. USD thresholds for the asset-balance or 30-day spot-volume routes are shown. VIP4, VIP5 and Supreme volume qualification requires API trading volume ≤20%. Account region can change the applicable rate. Other VIP qualification routes are listed in Bybit's fee schedule.

Additional pricing details

MEXC's retail Spot schedule is 0% maker / 0.05% taker; paying with MX reduces eligible fees by 20%, to 0% / 0.04%. The separate 50% discount for holding 500 MX was suspended. Institutional market-maker programs have separate eligibility and rates.

Bitso's app quote is valid for 20 seconds. Its embedded spread varies with the currency pair, liquidity and transaction size; quick, recurring and scheduled app buys use this quoted-price model.

Exchange withdrawal fees are set by each platform and move with network conditions. The figures in this article for Binance, OKX, Bybit and MEXC come from exchange API data captured in 2026 and can differ from the figure shown on the withdrawal screen when you transact.

Frequently asked questions

With Aureo, a SPEI transfer triggers the Bitcoin purchase and delivery to your saved wallet. Bull Bitcoin offers automatic purchases through Auto Buy. Paybis uses a checkout where you choose the destination. On an exchange, fund your balance, buy BTC and request a withdrawal to your wallet.

Bitcoin brokers include Aureo, Bull Bitcoin and ArcadiaB. Crypto exchanges include Bitso, Kraken, Binance, OKX, Bybit (subject to the MXN-balance closure above), MEXC and TruBit. Ripio, Mercado Pago, ARQ and Paybis provide additional purchase routes; P2P markets and Azteco vouchers are also available.

There is no single best exchange for every amount and funding route. MEXC and OKX advertise lower entry-tier Spot fees than Bitso in this comparison, but Spot fees alone do not establish the cheapest SPEI-to-wallet purchase. Include conversion, spread and withdrawal costs. Aureo and Bull Bitcoin offer direct delivery, which removes the separate withdrawal request.

It depends on your amount and whether you withdraw. Compare the published fee plus spread plus the BTC withdrawal. A 0% buy that later charges you a withdrawal can cost more than a flat fee with direct delivery.

Yes, with Aureo, Bull Bitcoin (Auto Buy enabled), Paybis, P2P, and Azteco. Custodial platforms that support external transfers need a separate withdrawal; ARQ currently does not support one.

SPEI transfers normally arrive within seconds to a few minutes, any day of the week. Aureo executes the purchase when the transfer lands and sends the Bitcoin to your wallet; on an exchange you then place the trade and request a withdrawal, which may add platform processing and, for on-chain withdrawals, network confirmation time. Details in How long does a Bitcoin purchase take?

Buying bitcoin is not generally prohibited in Mexico. Banco de México distinguishes non-financial businesses offering virtual-asset services from regulated financial institutions. SAT registration for a Vulnerable Activity is not a Fintech Law licence, an investment endorsement or a guarantee of customer funds. Bitcoin is not legal tender.

Aureo’s buy minimum is MX$500; its MX$100 sell minimum is a separate limit. Bull Bitcoin requires a MX$1,000 SPEI deposit, while Kraken requires MX$150. Deposit minimums do not necessarily equal the minimum BTC order or the amount needed for withdrawal; see the limits table for each operation.

Moving BTC to your own wallet gives you control of its private keys. You take responsibility for protecting the wallet and its backup. Check the platform's withdrawal fee and the receiving wallet's network support.
